Reggie Bush Tweets About "No Homo"

Today on Twitter Running Back for the New Orleans Saints, Reggie Bush sent the following tweet.

Now I follow Reggie and I responded yes. To me it is a way someone would show they didn't want to be thought of as gay. This means they are making a negative connection to being gay. So to me it would be offensive. Same as saying, "That's so gay."

But I was curious to see where this would go. So I monitored the situation. Check out some of the responses Reggie received.

The above clips are just a small sampling of the hundreds of response he received. I was impressed with how many said yes it was. There were also the standard amount that called him gay for asking. Then there were those that didn't have any issue with it at all.

Three hours later Reggie posted on Twitter again discussing the topic after TMZ.com put it on their site. Here is what Reggie said.

I had no issue with Reggie asking the question. I thought it was not the smartest move as a public figure to ask about the offensiveness of something on such a public forum. After all, isn't that how TMZ makes their money. Famous people doing things publicly that they can exploit and make bigger than it needs to be.

Human Rights Campaign Announces #FightHateNow Twitter Hashtag

#FightHateNow will update Twitter users on federal hate crimes legislation

I enjoy getting press releases from the various organizations working on LGBT equality. But I must say it really makes my day when one is about twitter. The following is the press release from the Human Rights Campaign:

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, today announced the #FightHateNow hashtag for Twitter users to contribute to and stay current on the status of the federal hate crimes bill, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (LLEHCPA), now pending in the U.S. House. By entering #FightHateNow at search.twitter.com, anyone can review the real-time updates submitted by Twitter users on the hate crimes legislation, also known as the Matthew Shepard Act.

The Human Rights Campaign’s blog, HRC Back Story (www.hrcbackstory.org), will provide live coverage of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee markup of the hate crimes bill (H.R. 1913) on Twitter using the #FightHateNow hashtag. The markup is scheduled to begin tomorrow, April 22 at 10:15 a.m. in 2141 Rayburn House Office Building.

HRC launched the website FightHateNow.org to arm voters with tools to help pass overdue federal hate crimes legislation. The site includes testimonials, up-to-the minute updates on congressional action, and specific action voters can take to ensure its passage. FightHateNow.org also features photos and videos illustrating the devastating impact hate crimes have on individuals and communities, answers frequently asked questions about the bill, and provides users with the tools to directly contact their members of Congress to urge them to support the legislation.

HRC today also released a new video and take action page featuring Judy Shepard as part of the effort to pass the hate crimes bill. Judy’s son Matthew was murdered in Laramie, Wyoming in 1998 because he was gay. Supporters of the hate crimes bill can view the video and send a message to their congressional leaders at http://www.hrcactioncenter.org/campaign/hate_crimes_video.

I love Twitter. I think it is a blast and I have made so many great connections and friends from this great social media tool.

The Artist

Hello again reader. Well usually when I talk directly to you it's because I'm about to have some fun around here instead of keeping things so serious all the time.

This one is for my cousin. he found a site called Typealyzer that analyzes your personality based on your blog. It seems to analyze the text. well I decided to play along. So here are my results.




                                                           The Artists
The gentle and compassionate type. They are especially attuned their inner values and what other people need. They are not friends of many words and tend to take the worries of the world on their shoulders. They tend to follow the path of least resistance and have to look out not to be taken advantage of.

They often prefer working quietly, behind the scene as a part of a team. They tend to value their friends and family above what they do for a living.









I always have a hard time aplying the word artist to myself in anyway. My twitter friends know this since I just commented on a fortune cookie that said,

"You are an artistic person - let your colors show"

I asked my twitter friends who the fortune really was for. One of the responses I got was from @gaydawgtrainer who told me,

"honey you know you have those rainbow colors flowing through you!"

 It was very hard to argue with that logic. So I guess I am going to need to work on embracing the artistic side of me. It leaves me to think that this blog has become an outlet for my passion for activism. If in writing that is showing art then I can surely embrace that.

So thanks to my cousin @fabflea for sharing this site with me. It was a lot of fun. Thank you all for reading and for your comments. It's nice when I get to talk to you and share the art with you.

Technology Rocks

I am impressed with how easy it is to share thoughts on this blog. I can do it from a computer or my blackberry (as I am testing now). Hard to believe how advanced and varied communication has become and yet our President and the Republican Nominee can't seem to master the spoken word when off script. The thought of them texting, blogging from their phone, or twittering is about the same as imagining monkeys doing the same. Wait, I didn't mean to offend the monkeys I think they actually would have a shot at making it happen.
